Iraq Vet Serving In Head Start Center
Three years ago, Grant Hudson learned about the importance of parent involvement while serving as president of the Parent's Committee at the Delta Community Action Foundation Head Start Center where his son was enrolled. Then in 2008, he served his country as a member of an Oklahoma National Guard unit deployed to Iraq. Now back in Oklahoma, he is working as a teacher aide at a center in Ducan and taking courses to earn the Child Development Associate credential to enable him to teach.

Agencies Raise Funds Through Special Events
Oklahoma's Community Action Agencies are using a variety of special events to raise funds to support their programs. In April, Little Dixie Community Action Agency hosted a 5-kilometer Race Against Poverty in Hugo; Deep Fork Community Action Foundation presented a dinner theatre murder mystery in Okmulgee; and Big Five Community Services hosted a golf tournament in Ardmore.
 
Elementary School Students Learn Ways To Save Energy
A group of Oklahoma City elementary school students learned about weatherization and ways to save energy in their homes from Community Action Agency Weatherization Program Coordinator Matt VanHorn.
KI BOIS Community Action Agency And Staff Honored
The Stigler-Haskell County Chamber of Commerce named KI BOIS Community Action Foundation as its 2009 Business of the Year and Executive Director R. Carroll Huggins as 2009 Business Leader of the Year. Transit Director Charla Sloan was elected president of the South West Transit Association.
