"Green" Head Start Center Design Saves Energy
Community Action Development Corporation's new Head Start center in Frederick incorporates many energy saving features.
Single Mom Loves Work as Energy Educator
Department of Energy Recovery Act funds provided an Energy Educator job at Big Five Community Services for an unemployed, single mom in Durant. She's now spreading the word about how to save money and make the country more energy efficient.
Bilingual Program Helping Children Prepare to Succeed
Staff and parents at Delta Community Action Foundation's Purcell Learning Center are working together to help children who live in homes where English is not the primary language prepare to succeed in school.
ARRA Funds Help Replace Transit Fleet
Little Dixie Community Action Agency helped modernize its fleet of transit vehicles using $1.4 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds to purchase 38 vehicles. The 34 mini-vans and four 15-passenger buses will provide services in southeastern Oklahoma.    
Community Dental Program Meeting Needs of Kids
Children enrolled in the Head Start program at INCA Community Services receive dental services through the "Laugh Out Loud" community dental program. Hygienist Brandi Hull brings equipment into the classroom to provide screening, cleaning, and fluoride treatments for the children.
A Tribute to Ronda Brothers
Barbara Hankins who is President of the Oklahoma Head Start Association offers a tribute to Ronda Cobb Brothers who died recently. Ronda was Director of the Head Start program at United Community Action Program in Pawnee.
Housing Summit Set for April 26
The Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency is accepting registrations for "Housing on the Rebound" a Housing Summit set for Apr. 26 at the Cox Business Services Convention Center in Oklahoma City. The event 16 breakout sessions and two keynote speakers. Earlybird registration is $79 through March 29.
