A Message From Our Head of School

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to all of our 1st grade students as they presented the annual "Passports" program this morning. They did an excellent job. Each student gave an oral presentation on the country that they studied. Following the presentations, they were able to discuss their displays and talk more about what they had learned. It was very evident that these students learned a great deal about the different countries. Everyone who attended was treated to a sampling of foods from the countries that were studied.

This morning I also listened to presentations by three 7th grade students (Alyssa Pirc, Cassandra Jackson, and Neil Malte) during the Middle and Upper School assembly. All three students did an excellent job in the arrangement and delivery of their presentations. It didn't stop there this morning for me. I was also invited by senior PJ Magerko to view his video, which was produced and directed by PJ as his senior project. All I can say is that I was awestruck. PJ plans to major in fashion design and his talents were evident in his video. I am convinced that the more we give our students the opportunity to be creative, to plan, and to present what they learn, they will be have the confidence to speak in front of any group once they leave AOA.

It's down to one week before Commencement and our 52 seniors are ready. Next Friday evening is Senior Farewell and everyone is invited to attend. The evening begins at 8:00 p.m. in the auditorium. If you have never been to Senior Farewell, it is a very special evening prior to Commencement. Our seniors and juniors sing a number of songs and in the process, the juniors say goodbye to the seniors and inherit their leadership. Commencement is the following day at 2:00 p.m. We are pleased that the Honorable Judge Vincent Culotta will be our commencement speaker.

Have a great long weekend and week ahead. Remember our veterans, armed forces, police and fire support this weekend as we all enjoy the freedom we have.
