A Message From Our Head of School

Dear Parents,

Last Saturday evening, AOA held the "Dinner with Friends" event. The evening began with a cocktail reception in the dining room, prior to everyone leaving to attend one of six dinners. The event was quite a success; thank you to our families and staff members for purchasing tickets. Special thanks to the following for hosting the dinners:

  • Alan and Stacey Steinberg '77
  • Sue and Bill Leahey, Michelle and Steve Rowley, and Jennifer and Matt Veselko
  • Jackie and Pete Cerar
  • Dawn and Ken Anderson
  • John and Karen Paganini, Rick and Karen Sippola, and Andy and Colleen Rigo
  • Ron and Tracy Clutter and Chuck and Karen Roman

As one of the auction items offered at the event, I offered to take one student and three of the student's friends to a Lake County Captains day game on May 15th. Sixth grade student, Daniel Ryan, was the lucky winner. We plan on having a great lunch at the stadium while we watch the game. Daniel will also throw out the first pitch. The best part for the students will be missing most of the school day!

Drop Off/Pick Up at the Lower School (St. John Building)

If you are dropping off your child on the east side of the Lower School (circle area), please do not park your vehicle and walk into the building. It is important that you leave immediately after you drop off your child, due to the fact we have buses that arrive in this area.  This includes pick up from after school activities.  Please remember buses still need to pull up to drop children off for afterschool swim.

If you drop off your child on the west side of the building, please pull up as far as you can so that you do not block the drive as cars are entering. We appreciate your assistance in this area.

Senior Projects

For the next three weeks, our fifty-two seniors will be interning at a number of businesses and corporations. On May 30th, they will present their projects at the Senior Project Fair, being held in the community room from noon until 2:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend and ask our students about the projects. Today they attended their last school assembly, and are looking forward to commencement on June 2th.

Have a great weekend and week ahead and Happy Cinco de Mayo.

Chuck Roman
