SWIM for Diabetes

We will be sponsoring our 14th annual SWIM for Diabetes in April. The Lower School students are encouraged to sign up and get pledges for our SWIM on Wednesday, April 18th.  It will be held from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. at the K & D pool. A bus will take the students to the pool; parents must pick up their child at K & D by 5:30.

New this year is a MS/US SWIM to be held on Wednesday, April 11th, from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. at the K & D pool. Mr. Starkey and the Varsity swim team are ready to do laps for a good cause. They hope others from the Middle and Upper School will join them.

Parents should go to www.diabetespartnership.org and click on "SWIM for Diabetes April 20,21,22".  These dates are different, but will allow you to access the correct registration page.  Then click on the left hand tab labeled "Register Here."  Both the AOA Lower School SWIM team or the AOA Varsity SWIM team are listed in the drop down box under "Please select a team."  When you get to the question about which day, just skip to the next question. Pledge forms are available in the Osborne Building office and from Darcy Hegreness, Kathy Marvar, and Jane Piszczor.

Community Service Project Supports Morley Library
Library Basket

The Friends of Morley Library in Painesville are holding their annual Spring Basket Raffle on Sunday, April 15, 2012.  It is one of their excellent fundraisers.  We received an invitation to create baskets to donate to this fundraiser, and some members of the Class of 2014 decided to take this on as a community service project.  Mrs. Cherney and her advisors created a basket for a "girl ages 3-5 years old".  The basket contains such items as a "Build a Bear" Bunny named Sophie, the book "The Velveteen Rabbit", a DORA cap and activity book, sidewalk chalk, bracelets, hair bands and other cool items.  Mrs. Jones and her advisors put together a "Candy Basket", filled to the brim with such items are neon worms, Skittles, Reese's, Lip Pops, M & Ms and much more.  The students and faculty had fun creating the baskets, which will be delivered to Morley Library this weekend.

Dance Performance

The following was submitted by Praveena Pewekar:

18 AOA students performed at the Fine Arts Association this past Saturday, March 17th, for a wonderful fund raising event, "One World - Many Cultures." The dance group seemed like a great fit for this unique Diversity event and the dance students received wonderful cheering and applause. The dance performance was titled "Unity In Diversity" and 10 dances, ranging from legendary 1500 BC to the modern day, Classical & Hip-Hop, were performed.  The dancers were:
