A Message From Our Head of School

 March 16, 2012

Dear Parents,

Did you notice the two bright stars in the sky this past week? Those stars were the planets of Jupiter and Venus. Can you imagine what they looked like through a telescope? Some of students had the opportunity this past Wednesday, and were astounded by the beauty and how close they looked through the lens. Veronique Berthet, French teacher, and Chris Ryan, parent, have taken on the role of working with the Astronomy club in giving these students as well as any student to learn more about the solar system and stars in the sky. Ms. Berthet and Mr. Ryan have been instrumental in reviving the use of our wonderful observatory. They plan to hold more evenings where parents and students would be welcome to observe the sky. Please check the weekly calendar as to when these evenings are scheduled, weather permitting.

The hit musical, Music Man, is the featured performance of our Middle School students this year. The performance will take place next Thursday, March 22, beginning at 7:00 p.m. There may not be 76 trombones playing, but there will be plenty of talented students. There is a $3.00 charge for adults and $1.00 charge for children. Come and join the fun. The students have been working very hard and hope that you will be able to see their performance. Our kindergarten students will also be performing the Peter Rabbit Play next Wednesday beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Lower School assembly room.

Spring Break officially begins Saturday, March 24 and the end of the third quarter is next Friday, March 23. Yes, the time is flying by, and when we return from break (April 10) we will only have 45 days of school remaining, but who's counting! I think the seniors are because they not only remind me how many days they have left; they have a countdown calendar hanging outside of the senior lounge. They actually only have 37 days remaining until commencement on June 2, which include a three week senior project.

Have a great weekend and week ahead. Happy St. Patrick's Day
