A Message From Our Head of School

Dear Parents,

Next week is SPIRIT WEEK at AOA. It's a week that the students look forward to as well as the faculty and staff. Thanks to our AOA Parents Association and Athletic Boosters, students will see for the first time our mascot in costume. Custom made, since it is very hard to find a costume of a Phoenix anywhere, Middle and Upper School students will get to see the mascot Monday afternoon when each class presents their cheers. The mascot will then make an appearance Wednesday afternoon for Lower School students when everyone gathers in the gym for group games. This is one of my most favorite days at AOA, as students in the Lower, Middle, and Upper School combine in teams to have a great time together in the spirit of fun competitive games. Please be sure to check the website for Spirit Week activities, especially for what students are asked to wear. You are welcome to join us for the Middle and Upper school cheers, which take place on Monday at 1:30, as well as the games, when all grade levels get together Wednesday at 1:30.

Enrollment Contracts

Thank you to all of our families who have returned contracts. Visitations to AOA continue to take place almost on a daily basis along with an increased number of families attending Open Houses. Some grade levels, especially in the Lower School, are almost at capacity for next year. With this in mind, if you have not returned your contract, you may want to do this as soon as possible or at least make the Admissions Office aware of your intention to return. We have found that the best way for people in our community to find out about AOA is through word of mouth. We believe this is happening, thanks to your confidence and support of AOA.

Senior Acceptance Letters

Our seniors are receiving or have received letters of acceptance to numerous colleges and universities. Fifty-two seniors will graduate this year, the largest class to have graduated on this campus in the last ten years. We are very proud of our seniors, who for many their dreams are realized by being accepted to their first choice universities. Some of the schools our seniors will be attending next year are: The Ohio State University, Pace, Michigan State University, University of Auburn, Savannah School of Art and Design, Emory University, UCLA, George Washington University, Syracuse, Purdue, Penn State, University of Vermont, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Wheaton College and Parsons School of Design.

Have a great weekend and week ahead. Don't forget to turn your clocks an hour ahead; yes, this means we lose an hour of sleep.

Chuck Roman

The 3rd graders entertained their families, teachers, and staff with their performance this afternoon.  Throughout the school year they have studied life in Africa with a focus on Egypt and South Africa. The Egyptian Feast highlights an interdisciplinary showcase of learning experiences including art, social studies, music, math and traditional delicacies.
