AOAPA Updates

Dear Parents,

Happy 2012!

It's hard to believe that the school year is half over, yet there is still a lot left to accomplish. One of the most important items on the list is the election of the 2012-2013 Parents Association Board. The current board has served for two years in their current positions, which is the limit per our bylaws. It has been a very rewarding two years for the current board members. Serving on the board is a great way to get involved, learn more about the school and to give back.

We are looking for nominations for all 5 positions; nominate yourself or another parent who you know would do a fabulous job. The nomination form is attached HERE and will be available in the AOAPA section of the AOA website. Forms should be returned to the school in care of the AOAPA by February 1st. Elections will take place in April and the new Board will start in July.

A funding change for the AOAPA was announced at our December meeting at Barnes & Noble. It was also included in a letter you received from Mr. Roman a few weeks ago. If you have any questions about this change, please do not hesitate to contact me. I would be happy to answer any questions. The Phoenix Luncheon will not take place this year. Instead we will be assisting the school with the "Dining with Friends" event on April 28th. Please mark your calendars and save the date for this fun event which supports AOA.

Cinderella Ball

Don't forget to polish those glass slippers and practice your dance moves. Join us for this wonderful evening for fathers and daughters at our new location - Manakiki Country Club. The registration deadline is Monday, January 23rd.

Tumbler Fundraiser

Show your AOA pride by having the hottest item around. The AOA Parents Association has had the Tervis Tumbler Company of Florida produce 16 oz. AOA tumblers with the Phoenix logo. They will be sold as individual items ($14 each) or in a four pack ($45) and will go on sale in early February. Order forms to follow.

The profits will go to AOA to support the funding of various school projects. An order form will be available in the near future. These will make great gifts for teachers, students and grandparents. No boat, pool, deck, or sporting event should be without them!

Mother/Son Sledding: Save the Date

Join us for our annual mother and son sledding event on Saturday, February 11th, from 10:00 to noon. It will be a great day on the hills! We will be returning once again to Hidden Valley Park in Madison to enjoy the thrills and the donuts and hot cocoa. We will be at the south entrance to the park located at 4880 Klasen Road. More details to follow.

Mother/Daughter Luau: Save the Date

This year mothers and daughters will have a chance to "travel" to the Aloha State.

Just a few of your options; learn how to hula, make a lei, enjoy a tropical treat or take a dip in a pool. Save the date of Sunday, March 11th, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Uniform Swap

It's time for round two of the AOAPA Uniform swap. We will be collecting donations on February 2nd and 3rd across from the Lower School office from 8:00-8:30 a.m. and 3:00-3:30 p.m. Please make sure all clothing is clean and gently used. The swap will take place on March 1st and 2nd from 8:00-9:00 a.m. and 3:00-6:00 p.m. in the Lower School.
