A Message From Our Head of School

Dear Parents,

Last weekend we kicked off the 2011-2012 Annual Fund "One" Campaign with a phonathon. Parent volunteers made calls to current parents asking for their support for our Annual Giving Campaign.

First of all, I would like to thank those parents for taking time to make the calls. The Annual Giving Campaign is not new and all independent schools rely on annual fund campaigns as additional sources of revenue to make up the difference between tuition and the actual cost to educate students. Andrews Osborne Academy's case, tuition only covers approximately 85% of the actual budget. The Annual Fund Campaign and other fundraising efforts and grants make up the difference of the additional costs. It is our hope that all of our parents participate at whatever level they are comfortable giving at i
n this year's Annual Fund "One" Campaign. The campaign continues until June 30, 2012. Your gift is tax deductible.

As you are aware, I recently returned from a trip to China and Tokyo. The purpose of the trip was twofold: 1) to meet parents of our current students and 2) to continue our recruitment efforts to attract top quality students to AOA. The parents that I met with are very pleased with the education their students are receiving. They consider AOA to be an outstanding school. I plan to share pictures and stories of my trip with our students in the near future.  Our strategic focus regarding enrollment for the year ahead is to diversify our international enrollment as well as building our Upper School day student population to have a well-balanced representation of both day and international students.  Keeping this in mind, if you are aware of a family with a student looking for an educational change, please refer them to our admissions department. We do have scholarships available for new Middle and Upper School students for the 2012-2013 school year.

Approximately 50 students have been involved in the production of "Beauty and the Beast." They are looking forward to this evening's performance, as well as Saturday's and Sunday's. This is a "not miss" show, especially for our Lower School students. Performances tonight and Saturday begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday's begins at 2:00 p.m. Come out and support these students who have been working very hard over the past two months on this year's musical.

Have a great weekend and week ahead.

Chuck Roman
