A Message From Our Head of School

Dear Parents,

As you were aware, we were visited by an ISACS Accreditation Team two weeks ago.  They spent three days reviewing our Self-Study Report as well as interviewing faculty, staff, students, and parents.  On the final day of their visit, Mr. Reno DiOrio (team leader) met with the faculty and staff to give a preliminary report on the last day of their visit.

He commended AOA for the following:

  • A dedicated, enthusiastic faculty and staff
  •  Healthy, joyful and friendly school climate as   exhibited by all stakeholders including the students, faculty staff, administration, trustees and parents
  • Engaging, mission-driven, college preparatory program
  •  Beautiful, well-maintained campus, including substantial improvements to the physical plant
  • Leadership by the board and administrative team in guiding the two schools through a successful merger and the birth of a new school

The ISACS visiting team recommended that Andrews Osborne Academy must develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan and that the plan should prioritize the work of the board and administration in decision-making and budgeting.  We are currently in the process of developing a strategic plan.  As the plan is developed, we will keep you informed.  A number of parents will be participating in focus groups representing all grade levels and their input will be valuable in determining our future priorities and goals.

In approximately one month, we will receive a full report from the ISACS team with commendations and recommendations for each area of the self-study which was completed for review by the team.

Fine Arts Parking Lot

Parents who drop off and pick up students in the parking lot on the east side of the St. John Building are aware of the condition of the lot.  In an agreement signed with the former Andrews School Board and the Fine Arts Association Board in November of 1969, the parking lot was leased to Fine Arts.  They are responsible for maintenance of the lot and I have been told that this will be taken care of over the summer.  Within the next couple of weeks, however, we will do what we can to temporarily fill in the potholes.

Best of the East Party

Thanks to the leadership and organization of Michelle Rowley, Marketing Director, and her team (Ellen Beers, Marianne Jereb and Vicki LeVan) the second annual Best of the East Party was a huge success.  Thanks also to our parents, faculty and staff who volunteered during the day to prepare for the evening as well as volunteer during the event.  The event was attended by over 800 people.  Thanks to all of our parents who attended and helped to make this a great event.  We hope that you enjoyed your evening.

Congratulations Rotary Students of the Month

Each year, the Willoughby Rotary recognizes students from Andrews Osborne Academy, Eastlake North High School, Kirtland High School, and Willoughby South High School.  The following students from AOA will be recognized at next Monday's Rotary meeting as Students of the Month:  Kacey Tucker, February; DuChante Davis, March; Soo Yeon Gee, April; and Joey Jones for the month of May. Students are recommended to the Rotary for this honor by faculty and staff.
