A Message From Our Head of School

Dear Parents,

Spring Break begins tomorrow.  With the winter that we've had, I believe we all need it.  Some families will be traveling near and far and others will be staying in the area.  Whatever your plans, I hope that our students can take some time off and come back rested for the remaining few months of school.  I want to thank the families, students, faculty and staff who donated to the American Red Cross to help the victims in Japan.  The total donation amount is $1,070.

Lower School Performances

This week we had two wonderful productions performed by our students in kindergarten and fourth grade.  As it is every year, the Peter Rabbit play was a big hit with parents, grandparents and other relatives.  Performed to an overflowing crowd in the Lower School assembly room, our kindergarten students were outstanding.  In addition to the Peter Rabbit play this week, the fourth grade students in Mrs. Marlow's class performed Midsummer's Night Dream.  Not only were they exceptional, I found out that we have a whole class of thespians.  I don't believe there is a fourth grade class in our area or region that could have come close to duplicating their efforts.  Thank you Mrs. Marlow and students for your Academy Award winning performance.

Good Luck Equestrian Team

Good luck to team members Emily Manos, Lilly Chalfant, Kate Kuczynski, Gabrielle Beeker, and Jorge Barrio.  They will be representing Andrews Osborne Academy this weekend in Wilmington, Ohio in the IEA Zones Finals.  Two weeks ago, the IEA Equestrian Team came in first place in the IEA Regionals held at AOA.  At Wilmington, they will have the opportunity to move on to the IEA Nationals which will be held outside of Washington, D. C. in two weeks.

Have a great weekend and Spring Break.  School resumes Monday, April 4.

Middle School Musical & Other News

On April 8th, members of the Middle School classes will perform their 2011 musical, "Seussical." This one hour, abbreviated version of the Broadway show is a clever compilation of some of the most beloved Dr.Seuss stories. The production features Andrew Anderson as Horton, Allyson Montgomery as the Cat in the Hat, Brooke Bucary as Mayzie, Haley Newman as Gertrude and Ron Zak as Jojo.  The cast is completed with our talented 7th and 8th graders. All students in grades 6 - 8 are helping with the production.

The AOAPA is hosting a cast party after the production for the Middle School students and their families. It should be a great evening of fun for all. The students will present the show for the Lower School at 10:30 a.m. on April 8th and the evening production will begin at 7 p.m.

Career Day Fair

On Tuesday, March 1, the AOA Libraries hosted a Career Day Fair for all of the AOA students.

The event kicked off with a presentation by guest speaker Tyrone Wrice, who is the Director of Career Services for Lake Erie College.  This was followed by a career forum featuring professionals in the healthcare, technology, architecture, equestrian, finance and hospitality career fields.

Afterwards, students were given the opportunity to speak one-on-one with our guests about their professions. This event was made possible through the generous support of The Friends of the Andrews Osborne Academy Libraries.
