A Message From Our Head of School

Dear Parents,

This past Friday morning, I woke up to phone calls from local schools districts notifying me that they were closing.  Yes, as you know, it was another SNOW DAY.  This was our 6th Snow Day.  Legislation will probably be passed to allow for five calamity days.  Since we are one over, we may have school on Friday, April 22, which is Good Friday.  I will let you know when we return from Spring Break.

Aid For Japan

The news from Japan is devastating.  When I turned on the television Friday, I was saddened to see the reports on the earthquake, tsunami, and related issues.  Currently there are more than 1,500 confirmed deaths, with 10,000-15,000 people still missing.  Over 200,000 people are displaced and the need for food, water and shelter is great.  This morning, during Middle and Upper School assembly, I announced that we will collect monetary gifts which will be donated to the American Red Cross to purchase what is needed to help in Japan.  Ben Irie, our Director of Residential Life and native of Japan, will be going to Tokyo this weekend to see his family.  He will take the check with him to the Red Cross.

As an all school effort, we are asking faculty, staff, and students from all grade levels to donate whatever they can during the week in the dining room at lunch time.  There will be a large water jug where they can place their donations.  An additional location is outside the Lower School Office, where a fish tank is set up to also collect donations.  Please consider giving to this important cause.

Have a great week.

Chuck Roman

For information about the tests, please click HERE.

Spirit Week

A balloon popping game, a ping pong ball on a spoon relay race, a scooter relay race, tug-of- war.....all were part of the fun during Spirit Week.  The students, staff, and faculty got together for some friendly competition and fun!

(By the way: the staff & faculty almost defeated the seniors in the tug-of-war).
