Greetings!

This edition of our e-news features two Community Funds established in loving memory. Memorial gifts such as these are a means of celebrating the lives of family, friends and colleagues. The Foundation is honoured to have been chosen as the vehicle through which the lives and achievements of remarkable individuals are recognized and remembered.

These two memorial funds, and many others the Foundation holds truly are "the heart of giving" in our community. Because of these funds established the legacy of loved ones will live on, forever. Each year the income generated from  the funds goes back into our community to support the good work of many charitable organizations throughout the Peace Region.

"What defines your legacy is not the impressive number of victories that you have won but the positive impact these victories have to the betterment of you, your immediate community and the world at large." ~ Colin Ong

ROTARY CLUB OF GRANDE PRAIRIE MEMORIAL FUND

GP Rotary Seniors OutreachTracey Vavrek and Karen Munjak, President of the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie present Sherry Dennis and Anne Repetowski of Seniors Outreach with a $1,000 grant from the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie Memorial Fund.

"For 60 years the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie has had a proud tradition of giving back to the community so it is fitting to be a part of the Community Foundation as well. Since the memorial Fund was established in 1998 it has been an honour to support it and as a result of our partnership enable us to attain our Club's goal of "Service Above Self".  ~ Karen Munjak, President, Rotary Club of Grande Prairie.

The Grande Prairie Rotary Club Memorial Fund was established to provide grants to deserving organizations in our community in memory of deceased Rotarians and friends.

"The donation today has been earmarked to help struggling seniors with grocery or gas cards. December, January and February seem to be especially difficult months for low income seniors with the higher costs in utility bills, and the struggle with grocery and prescription expenses. By being able to share a gift card we hope to help these seniors by enabling them to manage through these months. Thank you for your continued support to help make our community such a caring one." ~ Sherry Dennis, Seniors Outreach
