In fourteenth-century France, the Burghers of Calais achieved timeless renown for their devotion to their city.

On May 18th fifty-five leading citizens, our local Burghers, came together at Centre 2000 to celebrate their commitment to the community of Grande Prairie and area, all in support of the Community Foundation.

"We often speak about community leaders; what makes a leader? A leader is defined as a person who rules, guides or inspires others. As parents we try to inspire our children to tell the truth, respect their elders and have good manners. We inspire our teenagers to make good decisions, do well in school, be responsible and eventually be good spouses and parents. Everyone in this room has been inspired: inspired to support their community, to make the place we live work and play a better place. The work we are doing now will soon provide support for our children, our grandchildren and their grandchildren. That is the beauty of the Community Foundation, it allows anyone to do something good today that will last forever." Ron Regnier, Chair
