| Greetings!
We are half way through April, Community Foundation Month, our annual awareness campaign. It has been an exciting time for the Foundation. Our Board of Directors and staff have been busy spreading the word and awareness of the Community Foundation and the good work we do in our community.
We still have many exciting events happening in the last part of the month, more details below. We hope you can join us and learn more about the Community Foundation movement and how you can do something good now that will last forever in your community.

April 18 - 24: National Volunteer Week
A heartfelt thanks to all our volunteers who help strengthen our community by providing their time, talent and expertise.
In the spirit of Volunteerism we received a very fitting testimonial into our office last week:
"Community support goes a long way in helping organizations provide the best services possible. The Community Foundation's grant in support of the Odyssey House Volunteer Program has been huge! As the program continues to grow, we match volunteer skills to identified needs and provide the best training and support possible. Currently we have 59 volunteers and it goes to show that Volunteerism works!"

Why I Give
"Eight years ago my life was a mess. I was in an unhealthy relationship,
with a newborn preemie, in a new province, with no family for hundreds
of miles.
During this time I found assistance with many different
individuals and services including a womens shelter, family services, councilors, local church programs for food, housing and more.
Today I
am the solo parent of a beautiful eight year old who is healthy and
happy. I work full time and no longer require any assistance other than
subsidized housing which I am very thankful for.
Our road has been long
and sometimes hard. I wouldn't be where I am today without those
services. How do I give back to all those who have helped me along the
way? I choose the Community Foundation. This allows me to give back to
not only one or two of the services that have been there for me but many
more."~ Mel
