Lil' Green Thumbs! Opens
Despite the rain, our new
outdoor exhibit opened over Memorial Day weekend! Designed to give children and their families a place to play and learn about container gardening and urban farming, the activities and programs in this exhibit will change throughout the summer. For some children,
simply exploring the seed to sprout process will be new and exciting. For
other children, who enter with their green thumb well established, we hope to
create a connection point between their previous experiences and the play they
experience in our exhibit.
This
exhibit is a snapshot of garden life with every visit. Currently, we have
rolled out a few examples of what our garden will become throughout the
summer. This was an early opening for us and we look forward to add
additional pieces to our garden in the coming weeks!

Discussions with Donna Marie
Writing for our June
newsletter reminded me that school will be out soon and it is time for vacations
or "stay"cations to make their way onto the family calendar. Here at the
Museum we are also preparing for the adventures of summer. Lil' Green
Thumbs! is open and we are looking forward to having the children explore this
growing exhibit all summer long.
We have also expanded our Go
Figure! exhibit for the summer! All five of our larger than life books will be set up in the traveling exhibit
space. Along with the books will be arts and craft projects to enhance
the play and learning process. We want
to help you keep your children excited about books and take "getting into a book" to a new level. Between Lil' Green Thumbs!, Go
Figure! and all of our other exhibits, this summer will be a great time to come
to the Seattle Center campus and spend the day. Pack a lunch, play in our exhibits
inside and out, then take a break to splash in International Fountain or take a
nap on the lawn. We look forward to playing away the summer days together.
