Discussions Discussions with Donna Marie

One of our most popular exhibits is the Imagination Studio.  If you've never been to the studio let me describe it to you - easels with paper ready for capturing those Picasso moments using kid-friendly brushes; a new hands-on creative project every month that follows our monthly theme; a clay table using the kind of clay real artists use; a see-through paint board for learning more about shapes; a chalk table; recycle sculpture items and even more.

The growing popularity of this exhibit has led to the studio being over-crowded and has made it difficult for children and their caregivers to interact.  Recently, we have implemented a new ticketing system for the Imagination Studio. The new process helps us provide a better space for playful, artistic expression and exploration.
Art Line
As you probably already know, at the Museum, our greatest goal is that a caregiver can play and learn more about their child, while the child is exploring new ideas and concepts.  For this to happen, the safety and close proximity of child to caregiver is of our highest importance.  Our concern is that too often the studio was over-crowded, making it challenging for caregivers to interact with their child.  The crowded space also made it difficult for our staff to assist families, replenish supplies and clean-up the area.

Like any new process, our new ticket system will have some kinks to work out.  Our goal is to maintain a safe number of visitors in the exhibit while still providing opportunities for everyone to enjoy the studio.  I thank you in advance for your patience while we work out those kinks.

Additionally, we have added another art area to the Museum.  A community craft table in Go Figure! gives you and your child a chance to contribute to a larger project and it enhances the mathematical learning in that exhibit.  Right now, we are working on a giant community quilt!   This month we are also launching an Art Club for our older artists (6 - 10 year olds) who are ready for a longer time period focusing on arts.

Again, we appreciate your patience and feedback during these changes.
