In memoriam

Arlene Robinson a former Washington, D.C.,  judge who was a public member of the DC board and was on ASWB's Regulation and Standards Committee, died in late October. New leadership into 2012

The ASWB Board of Directors will include three new members as Carole Bryant, Fran Franklin, and Patricia O'Reilly join the group.  Also elected to the ASWB Nominating Committee were Robert Johnson, Melinda Pilkinton, and Ronnie Saunders III.  Read more.

The ASWB Model Law no longer contains an avenue for doctoral licensure without a BSW or MSW-a loophole present in many laws. Read more.

Fee approval rules remain unchanged

Delegates voted down a bylaws amendment proposal that would have vested the authority to set fees with the ASWB Board of Directors, but approved changes that should provide better opportunities for leadership development, and make for more flexible meeting agendas.  Read more.

Approval of test items isn't the end of the highway.  It's actually an exit to a whole new destination called "form review," in which actual whole tests are evaluated and approved. Volunteer form reviewers-former item writers and Exam Committee members-get this important job done.  Read more.
