ASWB Delegates will face another packed agenda
In addition to the usual elections and reports, delegates will also be getting an update on the most recent practice analysis, and will be voting on a proposed increase to the ASWB examination fees.  Read more.
 
Has the time come for a fee increase?
The ASWB Finance Committee has released its report on the need for an increase in the exam fees charged by the association, stating that after eight years with no increase, the time has finally come. Read more.

Diversifying the diverse

The latest class of writers trained to create questions for the ASWB social work licensing exams is an eclectic mix of professionals that includes academicians, frontline social workers, regulatory board members, and even a member of the ASWB examination committee from way, way back. Read more.
 
New score reports are ready to launch
The association has revised the way it reports test performance to candidates-especially the ones who fail. The new reports will provide raw numbers of questions answered correctly, and compare those to the raw numbers needed in order to pass. Read more.
 
ASWB will be reviewing its options for test vendors
The association has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a test vendor-the first such proposal it has issued in 13 years.  Plans are for the selected vendor to begin work in 2011. Read more.
 
Practice Analysis nears its first major milestone
The ASWB Practice Analysis Task Force is set to meet one last time to create the blueprints for the ASWB examinations based on the most recent survey of social work practice. But there's more work that needs to be done. Read more.
 
Recognizing commitment to public protection
Members of the ASWB Examination Committee are among the most dedicated volunteers in the association, and after three years of service, are overdue for recognition. Read more.
 
ASWB's newest staff member will focus on the examination program
Phil Gullion began as ASWB Exam Program Manager in July. His duties will include oversight of the association's psychometrics and examination security. Read more.

Let the research begin
The American Foundation for Research and Consumer Education in Social Work Regulation has awarded its first set of research grants for projects related to supervision, knowledge of licensure among faculty, and complaints against social workers. Read more.
 
Foreign equivalency progress
ASWB and the Council on Social Work Education worked together to create some new options for regulatory boards interested in getting more information on licensure applicants trained outside the United  States and Canada. Read more.
 
Tomorrow the world?
The ASWB Bylaws and Resolutions Committee is proposing that the association find out what it would take to create an affiliate membership status that would allow more international participation. Read more.
 
Discipline guidebook may soon be a reality for ASWB members
The ASWB Regulations and Standards Committee believes it's time for ASWB to move ahead with the release of a guidebook for social work discipline. Read more.
