IDA Program Helps Butler County Residents Purchase Assets Totaling More than One Million
When David & Kristina first learned about SELF's IDA program through Neighborhood Housing Services early last year, they thought it was too good to be true. They always dreamed of owning a home but thought it was an impossible dream with their combined credit card debt. In just 14 months, they completed the IDA's mandatory 14 hours of financial literacy training and asset specific training and saved $3,500 ($2,000 of which was matched by SELF) to purchase their dream home in Monroe.
David and Kristina are two of 27 graduates who purchased more than a million dollars in assets so far!
SELF's launched the IDA program in 2006. Since its birth, the program has taken off and helped Butler County residents learn how to better manage their finances, open a savings account and achieve their dreams of buying a home, going back to school or starting a small business.

More than 200 local volunteer groups have made repairs on 10 homes since the first week of July and will continue these efforts to repair 7 more homes. Repairs include interior and exterior painting, porch repair, concrete work and gardening.
