I never wanted to grow up and summer brings out the kid in me. I have a lot of wonderful childhood memories of my summers growing up in Nebraska. We would ride our bikes down to the town pool and swim all day, at least when we weren't lying on our beach towels flirting with boys. Other times we would go to the beach. One of my favorite things to do at the beach was to make sand castles. I used tin pails for my sand castles and now I collect them.
Today there are some really unique pails for building sand castles. Check out these Sandsac "canvas" pails.

Gardening From the Ground Up
June is also a great time for gardening. You can grow your own vegetables whether you have an acre or a wall. Vertical gardening is one of the hottest trends as people are demanding clean food. We are becoming more conscious of genetically modified foods and pesticides that may be used on food purchased at grocery stores. Check out these horizontal and vertical garden ideas for any location.
Forget Gorilla gardening - try Gutter gardening

Detoxify Your Life: Enough to Make Your Skin Crawl
Many common insect repellents contain DEET. We are told that we must use products with DEET or risk getting serious diseases such as the West Nile Virus. There are other precautions you can take to reduce your risks including wearing long sleeve shirts and long pants to reduce exposure to insects. Stay inside at dawn and dusk which are the highest risk times of the day for bites. And use non-toxic repellents such as the one below.
