The Heat Is ON!
Wowza people, the heat is insane this week and it doesn't look like it is going to cool down anytime soon.  In the summer, lots of people stop knitting in favour of outdoor activities, who can blame them, with only a few weeks of super hot weather.

Here is an idea to keep your hands from itching for yarn - why not try out different techniques, you only need to knit on a small amount of stitches and there will not be a large piece of fabric sitting on your lap. If you ever wanted to try your hand at cables, lace or maybe crochet (like me!), take a few moments each day to increase your skills. Come fall and winter, you will be ready to tackle the bigger more complex project you have been dreaming of.

Speaking of crochet - I have fallen hard for this craft.  I haven't picked up a pair of knitting needles in about 3 weeks because I have been working on my older daughter's giant granny square blanket.  There is about 10 more rounds on this blanket since I took the picture!

Crochet was like a foreign language that I was determined to crack. One Thursday night, I perused a few different granny square tutorials online and finally the construction of the square was crystal clear.  I love this blanket and so does Jay.  I am using about 20 different colours of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino on a 3.25mm hook. Fun times people, fun times.

What just came off our needles?  Check out these awesome samples!

Malabrigo Chunky Cowl... Simple and easy knit!  Get a jump start on your Christmas knitting with this splendid yarn.  Cast on 46 stitches on 8mm needles, knit through two skeins and leave just enough to seam the cast on edge to the cast off edge.  If you don't have 8mm needles, use a 9mm or 10mm.  It is big enough to pull it over your head during those super duper cold days.

Felted Clogs... Another great gift idea and super speedy to complete too.  We have kits for $40 which includes enough hand dyed yarn to knit a man's pair + the pattern. We only felted one slipper and left the unfelted one for you to analyze the construction.

Baby Set...For some strange reason we didn't have a lot of baby samples for little boys, until now.  Here is a cardigan and pants set that is fun to knit and a joy to give.  We used Knitting Pure & Simple's FREE cardigan pattern and The Blue Blog's Bell Bottom pattern.  The cardigan used 3 balls of Zara DK and the bell bottoms used 2 balls.
