July Prayer Partner

Rev. Wes Mullins
During the month of July, MCCLV is praying for Rev. Wes Mullins and the congregation of Pikes Peak MCC in Colorado Springs, CO.
FROM: Rev. Wes Mullins Monday, June 25, 2012
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I have just returned from a week of vacation to Yellowstone with my family, and needless to say it has been an eventful return. I wanted to write to all of you as people who I thought should know, or those who have contacted me asking about the church and the situation here. I appreciate all of you who have called, texted, emailed, or Facebook-ed.
. . . The fire is currently burning just a few miles northwest of our church building. Despite its close proximity, thankfully the fire is not currently tracking this direction--which it was about 36 hours ago. So, at this time, there is no immediate threat to the PPMCC building. However, there have been some new fires popping up around the area as ash falls from the sky and starts other dry brush aflame. The most recent of those was just announced about 30 minutes ago, and the only word we have on that fire so far is that multiple agencies have been called in to fight it. Please pray for protection from these random fires popping up around town. Thankfully, most of them have been smaller and more easily handled. At this time no homes or other structures have been destroyed, but the fire is 0% contained and drawing very near some homes. We do have several church members who have been evacuated (most of our church members, including myself, live on the side of town nearest the fire), so much prayer is needed for them and their homes. Our church building is very close to two evacuation areas for people's animals, and as those facilities do not have the space to keep all the animals and the many donations of food and other supplies that people are bringing, we have offered our huge storage space as the "warehouse" for supplies and food for all those housing evacuated animals. The offer was accepting and our "Do Unto Others" ministry team is busy coordinating all of the logistics for this. At this time, the greatest need is for prayer for all those in our area and near Fort Collins where these fires are burning. Local forecasts are for temperatures near or above 100 for the next few days with no rain and 20-30 mph wind. We need the opposite of all of that! Thank you for your prayers, and I will do my best to keep you updated as the days pass. Warmly, (Pastor) Wes
FROM: Rev. Wes Mullins Tuesday, June 26, 2012
Hello all,
A brief update as of this evening. Today was a bad day. In the last few minutes the fire has begun burning homes along the west side of Colorado Springs. At this point most all of the neighborhoods on the west side have been evacuated. With the wind blowing strongly, the fire has continued to track northeast, keeping it a few miles away from the church, which is located in the southwest area of the city. Many more members and friends of the church now face evacuations and home loss. The next few days are critical. At this point the fire here in Colorado Springs is considered the highest priority fire in the country as it bears down on the city. More than half of all aerial fire-fighting resources in the country are now fighting the fire here.
I have heard that one member of Family of Christ MCC in Fort Collins has lost her home, and continued evacuations are occurring near the other fire in northern Colorado as well.
We all thank you for the continued prayers. -Wes |
