The Frazier International History Museum's Education Department is thrilled to launch our brand new e-newsletter! Every so often-- 4 or 5 times a year-- we promise to only let you know about things that we think will be interesting or useful to you. These include professional development opportunities, updates on special events, upcoming lectures, temporary exhibits, newly developed programs from our Education Department and other bits of news, tips or advice we find that are worthy of passing along to you. We're committed to serving as a resource for educators from around the region. We know how tough it can be to find accurate, engaging activities for your students-- we've been there! Our staff of 4 educators boasts 3 former classroom teachers and has a combined experience of over 25 years. We use that experience as we strive to incorporate innovative, inquiry-based learning into all of our programming: school visits, summer camps, public programming and adult education. The Frazier Museum has more than 1,000 years worth of stories to tell, and we are always open to your ideas and suggestions on how to better tell them! Email us now. |

Wrap-up: National History Day Competition at the Frazier Museum | |
90 bright students. 16 experienced judges. 1 terrific sponsor and 1 fantastic venue.
On March 27, 2010, the Frazier Museum was honored to host the regional competition for National History Day, sponsored by the Kentucky Historical Society. Over 90 middle and high school students strutted their history stuff, showing off their work in categories including papers, exhibits, performances, documentaries and website.
The results were amazing! In May, the top five winners in each category will head to Frankfort to compete in the state competition at the Kentucky Historical Society.
For more information about getting your students involved with National History Day next year please visit Kentucky History Day, or call Tim Talbott at the Kentucky Historical Society, (502) 564-1792 ext. 4428. |

Summer Camps 2010 | |
The Frazier Museum takes the summer camp experience to a whole new level! During weeklong day camps, children engage in an array of fun, multi-sensory experiences, including excursions into the museums galleries and interactions with our costumed cast of historic interpreters.
With a wide variety of topics such as, " Life in the Middle Ages," " Chicks Rule!" and " Pirates," there is something for everyone. If you know a child who would like to learn how to swashbuckle like a pirate, dance a minuet or hit a target like Robin Hood, click here. |
