Happy Holidays!

Well, we certainly will have a white Christmas! Home for the holidays...We've been getting a bit of fresh snow each day. Beautiful!

I'm excited to report that I'll be teaching at the Crystal Lake Art Center next year in addition to the classes at Michaels. My first class there will be on February 1st, from 12:30-4:30. It's a beginning acrylic class. For the first 2 hours...We'll be playing around with the paint and seeing how versatile acrylic is! Then we'll be painting a picture, using our newly acquired skills! :)

Really looking forward to it!

Though not finished...this one's inspired by 13th and 14th century art. A contemporary spin on the spiritual work of the past, using the rich reds, royal blues and gold colors. At this point, I'm quite sure that the golden parts will be covered in gold-leaf.
Here are some links to the sort of imagery that will influence this painting...

Madonna and Child

Getting thoughts and ideas from the distant past is a new thing for me...I'm enjoying the gathering of ideas!

I started this last year... and am just now getting back to it. When there are some things that I think are working well on a painting in progress, and I don't have a clear vision where to go next...they often rest for a loooong time. :)
