Hey there!

It's been so SPRINGY here in Michigan! Sunny skies, warmer temps, all of the ice is off the pond and the canoe paddlers have been cruising by.

And how 'bout my Michigan State Spartans in the NCAA tournament! Sweet 16, is indeed SWEET!

Watercolor Tulips
11x15
$180 (unframed)

Watercolor Tulips....
Because we are in the process of moving...I'm finding that watercolor is a much neater medium to work with. My studio is always 'creatively cluttered'...but I take messy to a whole different level when I work with acrylic. I'm not convinced potential home buyers could look past that level of disarray!

Watercolor Triad Do you need some painting ideas to get you going? Well, you've come to the right place!

Limit yourself with a triad.(3 colors)

One of my 'tricks' is to limit myself to three tubes of paint, and see how many colors I can get from a limited palette. I try not to limit myself to subject matter though.

I used the same triad of Daniel Smith Watercolors* for both the "Watercolor Tulips" (above) and the "Turkey" (below). Limiting your colors automatically unites your painting with no effort on your part...how cool is that?

Turkey Painting

* The three colors are:Transparent Pyrrol Orange, Quinacridone Gold Deep and Ultramarine Turquoise.
Here's a link to the Daniel Smith site...I love their paint!
