Greetings!

|
|
They say April showers bring May flowers. I have no doubt that statement is true, especially for the Foundation. We have received tremendous feedback on our new e-newsletter. The e-mail statistics reveal the most popular item is the researcher profile. It's an honor to tell the stories of the more than 500 researchers who have received funding from the Foundation over the past 30 years. We have been overwhelmed by former grant recipients who want to share their story. To help celebrate our anniversary, I invite all of you who have received Foundation grants to contact us and tell us how the Foundation helped you in your career - you may become our next profiled researcher!
This month we are proud to feature Edelle Field-Fote, PT, PhD and to honor Preferred Therapy Providers, Inc as our April Partner in Research. We also report on our recent visit to our newest Geriatric grant recipient. Don't forget that Mother's Day is around the corner - consider honoring her with a gift to the Foundation in her name.
Hey, hey, hey! Don't forget to find out the answer to last month's survey question. Our winner is a fan of Jell-O, saving snowballs in the freezer and starred in one of the 80's most popular tv shows.

Where in the world did the Foundation go? To Visit 2008 Geriatric Grant Recipient |
Preparing for the opening of their new research lab at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill campus are Foundation research grant recipient (right) Michael D Lewek, PT, PhD, and Richard L Segal, PT, PhD, Director of the Physical Therapy Division of Allied Health Services. Segal himself got his start with a Foundation Doctoral Research Training Grant in 1986.
With the assistance of a bioengineering student and computer science students, Lewek constructed the weight apparatus and virtual environment needed for his study of effective interventions in improving gait in persons after stroke. Lewek received a grant funded by the Geriatric Section Fund for his research project that starts this spring.
Foundation Executive Director Bob Brennan and staff Renee Boyle visited with Lewek and Segal on a recent trip to visit Foundation donors in the Chapel Hill area. |
