Are You ExcePTional?
Judy Burlingame, of Englewood, Colorado, is.  Judy just became part of the Foundation's new giving program, not for the chance to win an iPod, but because "it's an easy way to support the Foundation."

Judy became a physical therapist to help people improve their quality of life by relieving their pain to they can get back to really living.  Her practice depends on research so she can best help her patients. Judy is giving back by supporting future physical therapy research through ExcePTional.

Greetings!

Bob Brennan
This year the Foundation celebrates 30 years of launching research careers and changing lives through physical therapy research.

I joined the Foundation as the Executive Director last March and as I approach my first anniversary it is nice to look back on a few things that made the past year ExcePTional!  We are surrounded by amazingly talented people including members of the Board, Scientific Review and Scientific Advisory Committees, our donors and friends and, of course, our wonderful Foundation staff.  We announced the completion of our Destination: Research Excellence Campaign and surpassed our original goal.  And the Foundation has now funded more than 500 physical therapy researchers!

While I am confident that the Foundation's future is very bright, there are significant challenges ahead as our economy is a source of concern for each of us.  We hope that you will continue to support the Foundation.  The success that we have enjoyed for the past 30 years is a direct result of your generous financial support and the confidence you have placed in the Foundation.

I invite you to drop me a line and let me know what you think about our inaugural newsletter.  Or, feel free just to say "hi" and let us know what you're up to.  Here's to a great Year!

Researcher of the Month

Michael Mueller, PT, PhD, FAPTA
In celebration of the Foundation's 30th anniversary, we are recognizing the more than 500 researchers who have received Foundation grants.  Throughout the coming year, you will get the scoop on Foundation alumni and find out where they are today.  This month, we are proud to feature Michael Mueller, who has received a $4.5 million grant from NIH for the COORT program.  Read Michael's story and learn more about COORT.
