Greenpath Ventures is a registered charity in North Essex whose major aim is to help improve the self esteem and confidence of disadvantaged adults, especially those with mental health conditions.
We offer unique opportunities that would otherwise be unavailable; crucially these activities will be in a supportive environment to encourage and enable participation.

Greetings!
Well here we are 12 months on, and the first anniversary of the newsletter. I have been delighted with the positive reviews, and it seems to be hitting the right notes.
But please do send me ideas or even articles that you may wish to promote. I can't promise to include them all, but I'll do my best. In particular if you would like to recommend a charity or an inspirational person for a future issue then please email me with details.
I'm also really, really excited about a potential project but I just have to keep it under wraps at the moment - but watch this space!
My chosen charity for the month is Greenpath Ventures and indeed John Wills the co-founder, is also my inspirational person. |

Job searching discrimination? |
|
Do you know anyone in a similar position? This question was posed in the Mail on Sunday.
"I am a recently qualified personal assistant who passed all my exams with flying colours. However, I am finding it hard even to get an interview for a job. I have a hearing impairment. Are employers turning me down because I'm a disabled man, or is it just the impact of the recession?".

As featured in the Sun newspaper...
Jason Roberts, who is paralysed from the waist down, was asked to leave a plane by the pilot because of the health and safety snag that he couldn't WALK to the toilet. The sportsman, 36, flies several times a year on his own and does not use the toilet anyway as he has a colostomy bag. Read the full story... |

Stigma and discrimination proceedings against disability.
Do you know how it could affect your business?
The Court of Appeal has recently confirmed that, in principle, it is possible for a Claimant to recover compensation to reflect the fact that other employers may be reluctant to hire an individual who has brought discrimination proceedings against their former employer. | Inspirational People - John Wills |

As a survivor of child sexual abuse from the age of 8-13, John followed the path many victims go down; mental illness and drug & alcohol abuse. He had tried getting help, but by the age of 16 was simply told to pull his socks up. In his late teens the mental health issues continued to get worse and his depression and self destructive behaviour continued. It was thanks to London based counselling service, SurvivorsUK that he finally turned the corner in his mid 20's and began to move on.
Today, John runs Greenpath Ventures and is about to launch Bluepath Ventures. Read his story... |

I am indebted to a colleague who recently emailed me with some rather remarkable artwork, including the one below.
All the more inspirational when you understand that the artist is Doug Landis who, as a quadriplegic, draws purely with his mouth. View his website here for more stunning examples and to read his story. | |
