littlehavenslinkThey aim to make their journey - and that of the family - as comfortable as possible, creating special memories along the way.

The love and care provided by the Care Team in the homely surroundings at Little Havens is as special and unique as the child. This could not continue without kind donations as it costs £2.3 million each year to keep the hospice open.

Greetings!

The observant amongst you may have noticed that the top banner has changed... from April next year the majority of the Disability Discrimination Act will be subsumed into the Equality Act. As a direct result I shall be broadening my consultancy service to cover the whole act, and over the next few months I will be detailing the changes in legislation and how it affects YOU. Watch this space...
With the launch of the featured charity being well received I shall now be including a nominated charity every month. If you'd like to suggest one to feature then please email me.
This month is Little Havens Children's Hospice. Read more about them in the Featured Charity section.

Make it Mental Health Week

By the time you read this the event will be over and wow what an event it was! From the 5th to the 10th October I was pleased to be sponsoring the 'Make it Mental Health Week' and indeed you may have seen me at the High Chelmer Shopping Centre in Chelmsford. And hey, you may even have heard about me on the Dave Monk show on BBC Radio Essex. Read more
As Tracy Shave (the organiser) commented, "Walking through Chelmsford town on 10th October 2007, I was stunned.  There was no mention of this worldwide event anywhere in the main shopping centre - or anywhere else that I could see - and I vowed that the following years would be different".
Two years on and Tracy has certainly made a difference... find out more at the website.

Help for Heroes

I am also pleased to announce that I am co-sponsoring the International Day for Disabled Persons, organised by the Chelmsford Area Access Group in aid of Help for Heroes on 3rd December at the Chelmsford Sports & Athletic Stadium. More details to follow next month...
Inspirational People - David Rolph
David RolphDavid Rolph suffers with Hypermobility Syndrome - which causes problems with his spine, joints and extremities within his body, which at most times can be very painful.
But that doesn't stop his entrepreneurial streak! In 2008, David established his company Lifestages, specialising in the provision of a 'toolkit' - a multi-purpose file that can be used to allow people with disabilities/impairments and non disabled people to maintain an accurate record system.

Don't Get Bitten - Parking Bay Blues!
A disabled driver, frustrated at being unable to park in the disabled bays at his local supermarket in Wolverhampton, scored a resounding victory when he took the supermarket giant to court recently and was awarded £5000 for disability discrimination.
