You can make a difference today!!!
On January 19th some of our food recipients were able to receive food from
Dwyane Wade Foundation and on February 7th we distributed food once more to the less fortunate.
As we continue to assist those in need each week. we realize the list is growing. We have received letters, e-mails and calls of how important the work is that we are doing in the community. There are families who have lost their jobs. There are families who have lost the breadwinner. There are families who have lost their homes and have nowhere to go.
Sometimes Life brings us punches and we think life is so hard, but no matter how hard it is someone else is having it harder and its not always their fault. Maybe your miracle is around the corner, but in order for you to receive it you need to reach out to someone. Maybe you need to help your neighbor or even that person that you dislike so much.
I would like you to think if you are making a difference, if you are not, maybe its time for you to do so. Think about it and make a difference today; you may prevent that person from making the mistake of his or her life by just reaching out.
May's Story
Consider this situation that one woman had to face. We'll call her May. May was healthy and working at the same job for almost 20 years. One day her doctor told her she has a terminal blood disease. Upon hearing this, her husband packed up and left her with their two teenagers. As a result, she lost her house to foreclosure because she was unable to work. She is now living in the projects. She spent Christmas and New Years in the hospital while strangers looked after her children.
May was referred to Joshua's Heart, who provides her with groceries bi-weekly. This is the only way she eats. We are unable to provide her with financial help, but we are trying to get her more assistance. Last week, she was back in the hospital and her kids were left home alone. Even though all her problems are not fixed, we were able to help them survive on supplies from JHF. This is one of many stories that fuel our desire to help. Every week we receive stories about people in serious need.
Every week we feed the homeless. Every week around the same time, the homeless forms a line and wait for us. If we are late, they wait and wait. We are now feeing 120 homeless each week.
If you have never been to one of our food distribution, join us and experience the affect made in the lives of others. If you prefer, you can volunteer to deliver food to the elderly and the sick so you can help to make a difference.
Volunteers
We asked for volunteers and we got them. We want to thank our volunteer photographer Teekay for his assistance. He donates his time by attending the majority of JHF events and by taking pictures pro-bono. If you need photos, please contact him at
teekay@e1promotions.com.
We have volunteers who videotape our events, write our newsletter, manage our Facebook and change.org website, handle printing and promotions.
We would like to thank Darren Robinson-Scott who worked tirelessly to get us visibility on Facebook. Tom Jahnes will be taking over the Facebook and change.org account. THANK YOU!!!
Because of our volunteers, Joshua's Heart can use its donations directly towards our cause. We cannot make it without our hardworking volunteers. "THANK YOU"
