The next Journey International Youth Worker Exchange will be October 6-13, 2012 to Canmore, Alberta, Canada as we visit Canadian youth workers and attend the Tenth Triennial International Child and Youth Care Conference.  

So Save the Date:  October 6-13, 2012.

 

Reproductive Health Care Statehouse Rally 

Planned Parenthood and reproductive health care have been under attack by members of the Indiana General Assembly this session, as well as some in Congress.

 

Join hundreds of Hoosiers in a rally at the Statehouse on Tuesday, March 8, (time) to send a message loud and clear that lawmakers should stay out of reproductive health care!

We need you at the Statehouse on March 8 10:30-11:30 am! Please

Family Engagement Event Promotes Parent Voice in Student Success 

MCCOY is helping to host a Family Engagement Event on March 10th to listen to families' feedback. 

 

Families will enjoy hearing from Keynote Speaker Randy Minniear, Alum of Broad Ripple High School, former NFL player with the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns from 1967 to 1971 and current Chairman of the NFL Alumni Association.

  

The event will also feature a light dinner, parent panel, round table discussion and conclude with a computer raffled off to one lucky attendee.

  

Space is limited to 100.

 

Who: Families and Caring Adults with Students in Marion County

What: An evening dedicated to celebrating and increasing the knowledge, influence and attentiveness of parents and families of students of all ages throughout the counties 11 school districts.

When: March 10, 2011 from 5-7 p.m.

Where:  WFYI's Community Room (1601 N. Meridian St.)

Why: The goal of this event to empower caring adults to take an active role in their students success by equipping themselves with helpful community resources and to have a positive discussions with school faculty and administration about their students academic career, goals and future.

Stepping Stones seeking two Residential Assistants

Stepping Stones,a nonprofit located in Bloomington is looking for two Resident Assistants starting this spring.  We provide transitional housing and supportive services to youth aged 16-20 years old experiencing homelessness.   RA's staff the community center in the evenings, provide support and life skills coaching, offeroversight overnight, and do apartment inspections.  RA's make a one or two year commitment and share a two-bedroom apartment onsite with free rent and utilities + are paid $30 day per shift.  

 

Requirements:  need to be at least 21 years of age and demonstrate a high level of maturity.  Must have a valid driver's license, a vehicle in good working condition, insurance and good driving record.   Previous experience as RA or working with youth preferred.  Strong interpersonal skills/ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both verbal and written communication.  Ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions.  Great deal of tact/diplomacy/patience/judgment required while performing a wide range of interactions.
