Nominations Needed for 2011 Journey Fellowship For Students
Help Grow The Next Generation of Youth Workers

The Journey Fellowship for Students:

During the coming year, The Journey Fellowship will bring together a group of 30 college students from around Indiana whose desire is to explore career opportunities that will influence the lives of young people in this state.

Currently in its ninth year, The Journey Fellowship provides an opportunity for college students to engage in their own development; connect with their gifts and passions; explore career opportunities working with youth; experience an internship at a youth serving agency; and develop significant connections that will help them advance professionally within the field.

The fellowship includes:

  • Three all-expense-paid retreats throughout the year focused on personal and professional leadership and career exploration
  • Executive coaching
  • The opportunity to connect with state and national leaders in the youth development field
  • An 150 hour summer internship
  • A $1,000 individual stipend for their participation in the Fellowship program

Please help by sending your nominee's name and email to kelly@thejourneyonline.org by January 31, 2011.  Once we receive any of your nominees, WE will invite them to apply by sending them an email with an invitation to apply.

You may also download the program brochure and the application by visiting: www.thejourneyonline.org.

Thanks everyone-- you make it possible to pay it forward with The Journey!

Stewards of Children Workshop
Presented by the MCCOY's Learning Network

Think about the number of children in your child's classroom, the number of children that attend your church, the children and grandchildren of your employees. How many of those children may be silently bearing the burden of child sexual abuse?

Child sexual abuse is a tragedy that plagues the lives of 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys before their 18th birthday. Ninety percent of children who are sexually abused are violated by someone they know and trust.

The impact is costly, not just emotionally for the victim, but financially for society as well. In Indiana, the direct cost of child sexual abuse is nearly $48 million dollars annually.

Unfortunately, we continue to live in a society where child sexual abuse is a subject that is not talked about and as a result many children keep the abuse a secret, or if they do tell they aren't believed.

Research shows that a trained adult will better protect as many as 10 children from sexual abuse in the year after training.
