Greetings!

Judging from the positive feedback we received, our November 13th workshop, Reaching Out To Residents, was a success!  We want to thank everyone who attended.  If you are interested in the final attendee list, please contact me at the e-mail address provided below.

We also wanted to let you know that the materials that were presented at the workshop are available online.  They can be found on the Stormwater Manager's page of the Resources section on the RI Stormwater Solutions website.

For links to some of the handouts provided by other organizations and towns at the workshop, please visit the Previous Workshops page of NEMO's website.

We welcome your suggestions and successful examples from your own experience dealing with stormwater issues.  Please feel free to contact us with your ideas or to discuss any of the materials on offer.

Best regards,
Lisa Philo

Why Now?

Some of you have asked us about the timing of these outreach materials.  Our initial outreach focus was to begin at the statewide level, in order to generate some public awareness of stormwater issues and lay the groundwork for local, municipal-level outreach.  After the statewide campaign was initiated, we turned our attention to municipal staff outreach, including a host of workshops last winter and spring.  Now, we are ready to begin education, outreach, and involvement of the public at the local level, and we are excited to offer a variety of strategies and materials for that purpose.  We hope those materials will make it easier for municipal stormwater managers to educate Rhode Island residents about stormwater pollution and involve them in stormwater pollution prevention.
