The Boston Celtics' Ray Allen is an avid reader.
The Boston Celtic's Ray Allen, like the New England Patriot's Tom Brady, is an avid reader.

"So it's important that you read, because you understand what's going on with the world, you understand the economy. . . . There's so much that we need to know, and we're not getting it from playing basketball," says Boston Celtic Ray Allen in Amalie Benjamin's May 6th Boston Globe front page story "Ray Allen Shares His Love of Books."

Who are the heroes who inspired you to become a reader? And who are the role model who might inspire the little people in your life to read? Read Raising A Reader MA's reflections on Boston Celtic Ray Allen identifying as an avid reader in the latest post on our blog, The Book Bag.

About Us
Raising A Reader MA is an evidence-based early literacy organization dedicated to helping families of young children (newborn to age 5) develop, practice and maintain habits of reading together at home. Our work, which both increases access to books and offers families tools and support for strengthening the culture of reading at home, is driven by 25 years of research that shows the single most significant factor influencing a child's lifelong achievement is being regularly read to by their parents and adult caregivers before starting kindergarten.

"I used to be uncomfortable reading to my kids. Now that Raising A Reader MA has taught me to focus on the pictures and to ask questions, my children are more engaged in the story and we have a lot of fun reading together."
