Laurie Jurecki

Laurie was raised Lutheran, but chose to be part of the Roman Catholic community in 1978 - as a result of a wonderful parish retreat experience. After years of coursework, Laurie received her certification as a Lay Ecclesial minister for the Diocese of Cleveland in 1991. During that time, Laurie and her family moved from the west side, where she was raised, to Cleveland Heights, where she resides today. Laurie joined the staff of St. Louis parish in 1987 and worked there until 1994, when she left to finish graduate studies at St. Mary Seminary. In 1995, she joined the staff of Ascension church, where she served until last year. In 1997, Laurie received her Master's Degree in Theology from St. Mary's. For the past year, Laurie has been a parishioner at Our Lady of the Lake in Euclid while working at an Optometrist's office in Lyndhurst - until she was struck with the stirrings to return to ministry. Laurie comes to SMM with an excellent complement of experience and skills including pastoral ministry, multi-generational faith formation, and computer technology, and will be a nice fit for our parish.

Laurie also describes herself as the blessed mom of 4 sons, mother-in-law of two fantastic young women, and delighted grandmother of 3 boys and 2 girls. Laurie and her youngest son currently share a home as he finishes graduate school and starts his career as a film-maker. She is very much looking forward to meeting the wonderful people of St. Mary Magdalene during the next few weeks and months.
