Fireworks Displays
Enjoy one of the many public fireworks displays in Anaheim & Orange County
Happy Fourth of July!  As you plan your activities for this summer, please take a look at the list of fireworks displays available within the community.  Additionally, the Fire & Rescue Department has provided answers to frequently asked questions regarding fireworks.  Remember, all fireworks, including "Safe and Sane" are prohibited in the City of Anaheim (Anaheim Municipal Code 6.40.020, 6.40.030) and in most cities throughout Orange County.  It is always safest to visit a public fireworks display.

Hi Neighbor Events
Hi Neighbor Logo Eva and Jerry Silverman Host a Hi Neighbor Event
A very special thanks to Eva and Jerry Silverman who last weekend hosted an event for their neighbors, encouraging their participation in the city's Hi Neighbor initiative and becoming more prepared as a community for emergencies.  They had 23 people attend their get together, representing 10 homes along their street.  The neighbors had an opportunity to meet one another and are looking forward to another event in the coming months.

To host an event of your own, stop by the CERT & RACES office for free handouts on Hi Neighbor, CERT and Disaster Preparedness.  Pick a time and location (it can be at a nearby park if you don't want to host at your home) and send out invitations.  Encourage neighbors to sign up for Nextdoor.gov to make sending future invites more cost effective through the internet.

Flat Stanley & Flat Stella are helping to promote emergency preparedness

FEMA recently introduced FEMA Flat Stanley and FEMA Flat Stella to the cadre of individuals supporting disaster preparedness within the community.  Flat Stanley is a beloved children's book character and through a partnership with Flatterworld.com FEMA has been able to introduce Stanley and Stella throughout the nation via social media and the Flatterworld App.

While you are out and about preparing your community take a moment to pose with Flat Stanley and Flat Stella.  Submit your pictures on Facebook and tag Anaheim CERT in the picture.  If you post your picture to Twitter, make sure you tag your Stanley or Stella at #FlatStanley and mention @AnaheimCERT.  If you don't have a Facebook or Twitter account and want to submit your photo, you can also email your photo to cert@anaheim.net.
