This Month...
June 5: RACES Meeting canceled in lieu of support for elections
June 9: Flag Day 5K Run Race Support (6:00 AM- 12:00 PM). Volunteers are needed to assist with radio communications for the 5K Race and parade that follows the race. Both CERT and RACES volunteers are needed. Please RSVP volunteer intent to:
June 12: CERT Meeting (6:30-8:30 PM) Captain: Russell Farrell, Modjeska Park Topic: Managing Donations & Spontaneous Volunteers Location: Anaheim CERT Training Room
June 16: Hi Neighbor Search & Rescue Exercise (8:30 AM - 12:30 PM). This will be an official volunteer exercise in which materials will be distributed door-to-door supporting Hi Neighbor as well as Anaheim Fire Watch. The exercise will review ICS as well as actually distributing materials to neighbors. Add your name to the RSVP list for Search & Rescue Drill online.
June 23-24: RACES Field Day RACES will participate in the annual field day events at Ronald Reagan Park beginning at 9:00 AM Saturday, June 23 through 12:00 PM Sunday, June 24. The public will be invited from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Saturday for a Hi Neighbor Emergency Preparedness Block Party where they can learn about preparing for disasters. Add your name to the RSVP list for RACES Field Day online.

July 10: CERT Meeting (6:30 - 8:30 PM) Team site activations. We will activate Reagan Park and Eucalyptus Park for meetings. Report to those locations if it is your home site. If it is not your home site, choose one site to attend.

Bottling Your Kit Pack smaller emergency kit items in 32 oz BPA free, wide-mouth water bottles. During an emergency you end up with necessities as well as available water storage containers. Here are some themes for bottles:
FOOD = sturdy plastic spork and knife; tea, instant coffee and powdered drink single servings; manual can opener and matches in plastic bag.
HYGIENE = hotel soaps; washcloth; shamwow style towel; feminine napkins or tampons; eye drops; toothbrush & small toothpaste; and dental floss
FIRST AID = bandaids; gauze pads; roller bandages; antibiotic ointments; travel size pain relievers; nitrile gloves (lots); pencil & notepad RESCUE = 5-in-one style whistle with compass, mirror, thermometer, match holder, or others depending on style; |
