CERT Hospitality Class

Resort Partners Finish CERT Class In response to the Mayor's Hi Neighbor program, Anaheim Resort Businesses partnered to host a CERT class at hotels within the resort district.
Thirty members of the resort business community completed CERT training. A special thanks to Glenn Taylor from the Anaheim Hilton for leading the effort to coordinate the class and host class space at the hotel. A sincere thank you also to the Sheraton Park Hotel who also hosted one of the class sessions.
The Anaheim Fire and Police Departments worked together to offer this class providing a special emphasis on the unique needs of the hotels within the resort area and providing a different perspective on the end-of-class scenario which included training and a simulation of an active shooter. Class participants reported they enjoyed the class and a special presentation will be scheduled recognizing those businesses at a future City Council meeting.

FREE Flu Clinic Friday, October 21 11:#0 AM - 1:#0 PM Sunkist Community Church 701 S. Sunkist St., Anaheim
The Anaheim CERT and RACES programs have once again been asked to assist in free flu shot dissemination at one of our planned Point of Dispensing (POD) sites. The City of Anaheim was responsible for developing eight POD sites throughout the community for a worst-case scenario in the distribution of medical or relief supplies.
We are able to test our third POD site this year with the help of Sunkist Community Church. Sunkist has been a fantastic partner in the POD planning process and we look forward to the flu shot clinic towards the end of October.
Volunteers are needed to assist with traffic direction through the POD site as well a radio communications and other functions. Please contact Mary Jo at cert@anaheim.net if you are able to assist.

There's an APP for that Disaster
| |
As more technology is available in the palm of our hands, so are resources for preparing for and getting through an emergency or disaster. With enough battery power, your smartphone can be a very useful tool for storing information you may need to access during or immediately after an emergency. Always keep a hard-copy back-up, but if you have a means of charging your smartphone, you may have resources available at your fingertips that help you through the situation.
