Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) A great season!
This season, VITA helped over 1,500 taxpayers, regionally. IRS-certified tax preparers prepared and e-filed income taxes for FREE for those with an adjusted gross income of $50,000 or less. The total refund dollars processed by VITA was $2,316,825. Thank you to all our INVALUABLE volunteers! > More results

NALC "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive Over 130,000 lbs collected!
May 12, the National Association of Letter Carriers collected bags of donated food at mailboxes. In our community, the Food Bank of Northern Indiana collected over 130,000 lbs of food (~30,000 lbs more than 2011) for distribution to local pantries. Workers Day Memorial Service A Day to Remember
On Friday, April 27, United Way and the AFL-CIO teamed up to remember those that died or were injured in 2011 due to workplace hazards, and to honor the heroes that continue fighting to make workplaces safe and healthy. The 2011 Regional 2-1-1 Annual Report
2011 proved to be a challenge for many of our area residents. This year, the total volume of calls and searches reached an all time high of 43,332 inquiries. The greatest needs this year were for housing & utilities (37% of calls), followed by food & meals (17% of calls). > Download the Report
