2011 Campaign Kick-Off kickoff  

 

Kick Off 2011On August 20th, over 400 community members gathered at the Century Center Great Hall to celebrate United Way of St. Joseph County's 2011 campaign kick-off. Guests enjoyed live entertainment, a silent auction and complimentary food, beer and wine.

CampaignOnce again the economic climate in the local and national economy is expected to present a significant challenge to United Way campaigns everywhere. In St. Joseph County, the 2011 Campaign goal is $3,350,000. Based on early campaign results and visits with our top donor company CEOs and community leaders, we are seeing and hearing many positive early indicators that this goal is achievable. Please open your hearts and continue your much needed support to assist us in meeting the needs and creating solutions to our community's unique challenges. Let's all continue to LIVE UNITED!

educationIn response to new local and national education statistics, United Way's Community Education Impact Committee (CEIC) partnered with the South Bend Community School Corporation to implement sustainable transformative education models and practices.

New Statistics from People Gotta Eat (PGE)newStatistics 

 

PGE apple"The Food Hardship in America 2010:  Households with and without Children" report from the Food Research and Action Center recently released that Indiana is ranked 11th of the 45 Congressional Districts with the highest rates of food hardship in households with children.  Indiana's 2nd Congressional District ranks 57th out of 436.  This report shows that food hardship is a problem across America and most definitely in our region.

On September 8, 2011, at a leadership giving society event for United Way, "The Ernie" award was unveiled. "The Ernie" award was established to honor Ernestine "Ernie" Morris Raclin for her achievements through United Way, improving the quality of life in St. Joseph County.

Drive and ShineFrom Thursday, September 15, to Sunday, September 18, Groupon featured a deal for Drive & Shine Car Wash. The deal was for 3 Diamond Full Service Car Washes for the low price of $36, regularly priced at $78.

 

What made this deal unique was that 10% of all of Drive & Shineʼs proceeds from this deal will be donated to United Way of St. Joseph County. We are extremely thankful for Drive & Shineʼs continued support of United Way.
