This pre-conference session will provide the attendees with a review of the anatomy and physiology of the foot and nails with a focus on the bones, musculature, vasculature, nail structures, and age changes. Included will be a section on the main features of the clinical assessment of the foot and nails including the skin, range of motion, strength and nerve function. Salient signs and symptoms associated with circulation and nerve impairments will be reviewed and the current diagnostic approaches will be highlighted. A "virtual" clinic will provide attendees with examples of common foot disorders and the clinical management strategies, both non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic, that are based on the most recent evidence. A comprehensive review of evidence-based research and best practice guidelines to provide foot and nail care will include WOCN, ADA, Orthopedic, Podiatric and Dermatologic Society consensus statements and published documents.
