Toe Brachial Index (TBI): Best Practice for Clinicians
A Toe Brachial Index (TBI) is a non-invasive test used to determine arterial perfusion in the feet and toes and is of greatest benefit with patients who have diabetes and/or renal disease. This test may be used to support the diagnosis of lower extremity arterial disease (LEAD) by providing an objective indicator of arterial perfusion to a lower extremity, without the limitation of incompressible ankle arteries due to calcification occuring in patients with diabetes or renal disease. This clinicians' best practice document provides information for patient assessment, suggestions for patient preparation, tools needed for testing and the proper equations for calculating the TBI.
This document is free to members thru the Member Center in the Library section. |
