Run the Boston Marathon for Good Sports!

Whether you're a seasoned marathon competitor, or looking to make the jump from casual to serious runner, Good Sports can provide you the opportunity to run one of the most famous marathons in the world!

Good Sports Marathonhas a limited amount of numbers available for the 2009 Boston Marathon®, and we're looking for motivated and hard-working runners to represent our organization. It's no secret these numbers can be tough to come by, and all Good Sports asks in exchange for this opportunity is your efforts in fundraising to help support our cause in making sure disadvantaged youth receive the equipment they need to participate in sports.

If you're interested in running, please fill out the attached application by Friday, October 31st. Additionally, if you have any questions about what will be required of you, feel free to contact Davin at dlencz@goodsports.org.
Book Proceeds to Benefit Good Sports

MarathonBaseball stars across the country are stepping up to support a new children's book, A Glove of Their Own. The book aims to teach children the value of sharing what you have with those in need.

Good Sports is proud to be one of the charities selected to benefit from sales of this book. The book comes out in October but reserve copies can be ordered now at A Glove of Their Own website.  Be sure to click on the Charity code GSP 133 from the drop-down box and Good Sports will receive a portion of the sale.
Good Sports and Philadelphia Eagles Partner for Second Year

Good Sports continued its partnership with the Philadelphia Eagles by donating $10,000 worth of equipment to the Children Advancing Toward Success (CATS) football program on September 2nd.

Last year, CATS had an outpouring of interested 5-7 year olds, however there was no team for them to play on. The organization was committed to creating a Pop Warner team for their weight class, and that's when Good Sports and the Eagles pitched in by donating nearly 50 helmets and shoulder pads. Eagles wide receiver Jason Avant helped distribute the equipment, while Eagles cheerleaders and mascot SWOOP were also on hand to meet the youngsters. A half-dozen media outlets covered the donation.

Red Sox Players Step Up for Good Sports

Kevin Youkilis and Manny Delcarmen each participated in events for Good Sports this summer, helping us raise money as part of our annual Legends of the Ball. Youkilis participated in a backyard NERF football game which raised an extraordinary $15,000. Delcarmen hosted a pitching lesson for 15 youth, and even let the kids hit a few off of him! Many thanks to both players for all of their support!
