Do You Have Unclaimed Funds?
Every year your state Treasurer's office publishes a list of unclaimed funds.
Maybe you check over that list. Maybe not.
The fact is that many individuals "lose" funds due to address or job changes, errors in Social Security numbers, etc. Here is an easy way to see if you have any unclaimed funds - visit www.missingmoney.com. This is a free service. The site will let you search your state's records by name, for yourself or for family members. If unclaimed funds are identified, you will see whether the amount is greater or less than $100, and the source of the funds (i.e. dividends, tax refund, etc). The process for claiming your missing funds is straightforward, but not necessarily fast.
