Green Solutions In Focus

|
CNN photojournalist Ken Tillis focuses on FUNDRED as part of a 30 minute Earth Day special highlighting stories of our country's renewed interest in "going green." The full program is currently available online. The individual segments will be airing throughout the month on television. The FUNDRED segment begins airing today and will continue to run throughout the day. If you happen to be near a TV at 2:40 EDT, check it out!

Note that the full production includes a segment on a vehicle modification to an alternative fuel engine. This is the same technology behind the operation of the FUNDRED armored truck that will also run on straight vegetable oil when it is deployed on its cross-country road trip to pick up the $300,000,000 FUNDRED DOLLARS! Watch this segment for more perspective.

| Quick Earth Day (or any day) Related Lesson! |

We think the CNN "Green Solutions in Focus" documentaries raise awareness of the fragility of our earth and the times we live in. These short segments allow opportunity for classroom reflection and discussion. Here is a thought for a quick Earth Day lesson if you have access to streaming video in the classroom:
Show the CNN produced FUNDRED special (perhaps in the context of one or two of the other segments).
- Discuss how all actions have repercussions: the environmental consequences of lead contamination resulting from additives in gasoline and paint; despite prohibition of these additives there is residual pollution compromising heath. Fundred.org has a fact sheet with more information on lead pollution. (link to download press release)
- What are the traditional means of addressing these environmental hazards? Who are the people innovating alternative solutions?
- How can we, as individuals and community, be part of the solution? How do we express our concerns and how do we take action?
- Spend some time personalizing FUNDRED DOLLAR BILLS.
- Reflect on environmental responsibility and what we can do to reinforce our personal commitment locally and globally

| NAEA Shout Out! |

To all of those we met in Minneapolis (established Operatives, new Operatives, and soon to be Operatives) - thank you so much for your consideration, encouragement, enthusiasm and support! It was a busy 4 days and we enjoyed meeting so many of you face-to-face. It was also great to learn of certain covert activities going on out there. Remember to send those FUNDREDS to a vault near you ASAP so your efforts are (ac)counted!
...and thanks for the great turnout at our Monday night FUNDRED DOLLAR BILL PROJECT session. We definitely want to hear from all of you as you bring FUNDRED to your schools, districts and states.
...a special thank you to Teacher Institute in Contemporary Art (TICA) for co-hosting the Saturday night reception, where there was much good FUNDRED fun that included networking, updates on science and political strategies, a great discussion on ongoing implementation strategies and even a few magic tricks! A good time was had by all.
We look forward to working with all of you to make the 3 million FUNDRED artworks a reality before the end of this year.
