Calamus Named one of Top Ten Wineries
4 Silver Medals for wines 
Jordan, Ontario - Nov. 14, 2010 - The Intervin results have just been announced and CALAMUS ESTATE WINERY has been named as one of the Top Ten wineries in the competition. As a small, owner-operated winery competing against wineries from around the world, this news is huge. Six wines were entered in the competition and CALAMUS won silver for its 09 Gewurztraminer, 09 Pinot Gris, 08 Vinemount Ridge Riesling and 08 Vidal Icewine.
Located in Jordan Ontario, Calamus is the pride and joy of owners Derek Saunders and Pat Latin. They planted their first vines in Beamsville in 2000 and the estate vineyard near Jordan in 2002. In its short history, Calamus has gained a reputation for producing great wines at reasonable prices. The recognition at the Intervin competition affirms the talent of Arthur Harder, Winemaker at Calamus since its inception. Larry Horne and Sheila Minkhorst are partners at Calamus and handle the sales and marketing areas.

Calamus also wins Silver at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair The 2009 Pinot Gris has won a Silver Medal at the RAWF Ontario VQA Wine Competition. This is the third silver medal for this wine in 2010. A customer favourite at Calamus - it won't last long!! |
