Great News!

We are delighted to announce the completion of two conservation projects - Burgoyne Bay and Twin Lakes.

Burgoyne Bay on Salt Spring Island is a 22 hectare (55 acre) acquisition which will conserve rare Garry oak and Coastal Douglas-fir habitat. Surrounded by Provincial Parks and an ecological reserve, this property is the last piece of the puzzle and completes protected areas of Burgoyne Bay. We wish to thank the property owner, BC Ministry of Environment, individual donors and the Government of Canada through the Natural Areas Conservation Program as facilitated by the Nature Conservancy of Canada who made this conservation achievement possible.

Twin Lakes is an 810 hectare (2,000 acre) property important for grassland and riparian habitat and ranked as a top priority by the South Okanagan-Similkameen Conservation Program. Thanks to the BC Conservation Foundation, Ducks Unlimited Canada, Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation, Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, local conservation groups, many individual donors and the Government of Canada through the Natural Areas Conservation Program as facilitated by the Nature Conservancy of Canada for making this acquisition possible.

My Favourite BC Photo Contest 

Thanks to all the amateur photographers in BC who submitted photos to the My Favourite BC Photo Contest and all those who voted as well as photographer Graham Osborne for judging the contest. We appreciate everyone's patience as we experienced challenges with our website.

The grand prize winner was Alan Story for his shot taken in the Broughton Island Group with a Nikon E990, f7.9 11mm, 1/310 sec as he was cruising in his boat. 

Congratulations to:

- Cormac Flynn for winning the Favourite Wild View category for his shot of Joffre Peak viewed from Mount Matier

- Terry Beaupre for winning the Favourite Tree category for her shot of misty trees in Bridgman Park in North Vancouver during heavy fog

- and Eduardo Baena for winning the Favourite Wildlife category for his wolf eels taken at a dive site near Nanaimo called Clark Rock.
