Republican Women In Numbers | |
| There is exciting news on the political front as Republican women step forward to run for office in unprecedented numbers!
The last time a significant number of women ran for public office was in 1992 which was dubbed "The Year of the Woman." In 1992, the percentage of women in Congress reached double digits for the first time.
Here's a look at some exciting numbers...
239 women are candidates for the House in 2010
107 Republican women have filed to run for a House seat in 2010
65 Republican women ran for the House in 2008
67% of Republican women running for House seats will be facing Democrat incumbents if they win their primaries
In races for open seats, 26 Democrat women and 19 Republican women are running in 2010
31 women are candidates for the Senate in 2010
Women are moving into more leadership positions at the local, state and national level. It is important that we celebrate the power of Republican women in numbers as we countdown to November.
Let's be ready to win in 2010! |

Elena Kagan Hearings | |
|

Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Patrick Leahy (D-VT) has announced that the Kagan hearings will begin on June 28th.
WHY SHOULD YOU CARE ABOUT THE KAGAN HEARINGS?
In a recent Washington Post article, "Kagan's candor could shape Supreme Court's future," Ezra Klein comments on the importance of the Supreme Court on our everyday lives by saying,
"But we're talking about a lifetime appointment to a body with power over everything from credit card regulations to campaign-finance reform to immigration. Kagan might have a new appreciation for the difficulty of being a nominee, but she should retain her old respect for the Senate's right-and our need-to know the opinions of all nominees."
