Legislative Update

FINANCIAL REGULATORY REFORM BILL-The Senate managed to deal with a handful of amendments to the Democrats'  financial regulatory reform bill Thursday night.  The Senate will continue voting on amendments to the bill next week.  
 
CAP AND TAX BILL-Senators John Kerry (D-MA) and Joe Lieberman (I-CT) announced they will unveil their new "climate change'' bill next Wednesday.

President Obama and Vice President Biden held separate interviews with Diane Wood for the Supreme Court vacancy this week.

President Obama also met with Senators Kyl and Hatch to discuss the Supreme Court nomination process. Both Republican Senators serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
 
WH Press Secretary Robert Gibbs says he doesn't know of anyone at the White House who would support Sen. Joe Lieberman's bill that would strip the citizenship of any American with ties to foreign terrorist groups.
 
Senate Democratic Conference Vice-Chairman Charles Schumer (D-NY) has asked AZ Governor Jan Brewer to delay implementing AZ's new immigration law for one year to give Congress a chance to develop comprehensive immigration reform.
 
Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) introduced a bill that would require the executive branch to put all public documents on a searchable online database to improve government transparency.
 
House Appropriation Committee Chairman Rep. David Obey (D-WI) has announced that he will not seek re-election. He is the third most Senior Member of the House.
 
House Republican Leaders have called for an investigation into the Obama Administration's response to the oil spill in the Gulf Coast.
 
House Members Reps. Mike Pence (R-IN) and Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) are standing firm in opposition to the International Monetary Fund giving aid to Greece.
